He is survived by: his wife Mary Ricker McCarter; his stepchildren, Larry Brown Jr. of Fayetteville, Laurie Bradshaw (Randy) of Hickory, Karen Baker (Josh) of Belmont and Tammy Smith (David) of Lincolnton; his brother Robert McCarter (Cebby) of Charlotte; and his grandchildren, Mark, Michael, Corey, Ashley, Chelsea, Casey, Wesley, Shawn and Katie.
