He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Shade Sr. and Nancy Shores Shade; and his brother Melvin Shade. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Robinson of Hickory, NC, James Shade Jr. (Teresa) of Harmony, NC, Sandra Turner of Statesville, NC, Allan Shade of Claremont, NC and Shawn Shade of Hickory, NC; and his siblings, Irene Hester of Hickory, NC, Clyde Shade Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Richard Shade of New York. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Coulter's Grove A. M. E. Zion Church (4513 Startown Rd, Newton, NC 28658). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location.
