He was predeceased by : his parents, Samuel Lee and Mary Elizabeth Godfrey; and his sister Ruby Louise Gouch. He is survived by : his wife Jackie Delores Godfrey (Hough); his son Brent Godfrey (Pam) of Hickory; his siblings, Joyce Lee Warters (Ronald) of Concord and Jim Samuel Godfrey (Pat) of Concord; his grandchildren, Jackson Dane Godfrey and Allison Caroline Godfrey; his brother-in-law Harvey Gouch; and his pet Earl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice House at 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
