He is survived by : his mother Mildred Carpenter Smith; his wife Patricia Hill Smith; his brother Haskal Smith; his children, Richie Sigmon (Sindie) of Hickory and Wendy Clarke (Silas) of Newton; his siblings, James Smith (Buck) of Conover, Prue Angel (Jim) of Lincolnton, Joann Hedrick of Catawba, Patricia Shook (Bill) of Vale, Jessie Stephens (Max) of Hickory and Rita Pope (Todd) of Catawba; his grandchildren, Andi Sigmon (Squeaks), Zachary Clarke and Kaylee Clarke; and his brother-in-law Nelson McCrary.
