She was predeceased by: her parents, James Thomas and Mary Lessie Poplin Atkinson; her former husband Ralph Thompson; and her siblings, Tommy Atkinson and Ruth Cuddy.

She is survived by: her husband Jack Douglas Reid; her children, Renee Thompson Smith, Amy Thompson Smith (Jimmy) of Norwood and Stan Thompson (Samantha) of Norwood; her stepdaughter Tiffany Reid Coleman (Bill) of Kannapolis; her grandchildren, Megan Jill Burris and Samuel T. Smith (Danielle Soble); and her stepgrandchildren, Austin Coleman and Alaina Coleman.
