He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleavy Short and Pauline Short. He is survived by: his wife Myra Faye Walker Short; his children, Rebecca Short Connell of Spencer and Robert Ed Short of Spencer; his grandchildren, Angelica, David, Nicholas, Adam and Evelyn Rose; his great grandchild Simon; his siblings, Joy Baxter of Cherryville, Darrell Short (Judy) of Vale, Jeanette Boyles (Tommy) of Morehead City and Jane Daniel (Rick Wade); his nephew Doug Daniel; his brother Rodney Walker (Denise Altman); his nieces, Kathy Walker (Doug Ross) and Camille Walker; and his great-nephew Walker Ross.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel (1411 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
