He is survived by: his son Patrick Ryan Payne of Oakboro; his siblings, Neal Payne of Gettysburg, Charles Payne of Mills River, Marsha Keys of Asheville and Lynda Coates of Taylor; his grandchildren, Patrick Ian Payne of Oakboro and Olivia Anne Payne of Oakboro; and his close friend Frances Sloan of Locust.
