We announce the death of Tommy K Whitley (Oakboro, North Carolina), who passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 95. He was predeceased by: his parents, Temple Whitley and Bedie Whitley; and his siblings, Truly Burris, Virginia Eudy, Pauline Almond, Truet Whitley and Seymore Whitley.
He is survived by: his wife Avinelle "Allie" Whitley (Barbee); his sons, Keith Whitley (Lisa) and Bruce Whitley (Lisa); his grandchildren, Seth Whitley (Jennifer), Michael Whitley (Leslie), CJ Whitley (Elizabeth), Caitlin Austin (Charles), Bailey Williams (Bobby) and Madison Graves (Joseph); his great grandchildren, Judah, Lucas Whitley, Elijah, Tucker Whitley, Liam Barbee, Riley, Bryson, Jonas, Ezra Whitley, Cayden, Cate, Charleigh Austin, Peyton, Paxton, Preston Williams, Amelia, Jax and Hallie Graves; and his sister Edna Tucker.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery (17236 Frog Pond Rd, Oakboro, NC 28129). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
