He was predeceased by: his parents, William Floyd Melton and Florence Shearin Melton; and his siblings, Alma Melton Puryear, Floyd Junior Melton and William Samuel Melton.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Diane Claiborne Melton; his children, Kimberly Wright (Blake) and Craig Melton (Jaime); and his grandchildren, Harper Wright, Blair Wright, Danica Melton and Delaney Melton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sossamon Funeral Home - Oxford (106 Clement Ave, Oxford, NC 27565). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Meadowview Memorial Park (US-15, Oxford, NC 27565).
