It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertrude Kelley of Oxford, North Carolina, who passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Buck and Emma Sue Wilson Nelson; her husband James Thomas "Jimmy" Kelley; and her siblings, Anna Bell Alkins, Esther Dixon, Edith Nelson, Lizzie Nelson and James Raymond Nelson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Dolores "Dee Dee" Taylor, Katheryn Whitlow (Jimmy) and Cheryl Chaney (Mike); her grandchildren, Kelley, Nikki, Mandi, Jenni, Brandon, Michael, Zachary, Matthew and Jackson; and her brother William Roy Nelson. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
