It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Robert Davis of Oxford, North Carolina, who passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Arrington Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Read Davis; his wife Doris Evans Davis; and his siblings, Elizabeth Nimeroff of New York City, Lillian Vaughan of Savannah Ga, Patricia Peoples of Henderson and Joseph Arrington Davis Jr. of Henderson.
He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Ezelle Jones (Jeffery) of Oxford and Richard C. Ezelle (Shelia) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Chelsea Kolly (Kevin) of Raleigh and Kyle Ezelle (McKenna) of Oxford; his great grandchildren, Thomas Ezelle and Rheanne "Annie" Ezelle; his brother Jack Maison Davis (Susan) of Raleigh; his close friend Ruth Satterwhite; and his nephews, John Davis, Scott Peoples, Tyson Peoples, Kirk Peoples, Gene Thompson and Mark Davis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Sossamon Funeral Home (106 Clement Ave, Oxford, NC 27565). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
