He was predeceased by : his parents, Onus Denver "Bill" Mullis and Elizabeth "Lib" Carelock Mullis; his brothers, Darrell Mullis and Denny Mullis; and his parents-in-law, Tom and Margie Baucom.

He is survived by : his wife Daphne Baucom Mullis; his children, Michael Mullis of Peachland and Mandy Mullis of Shallotte; his grandchildren, Madison M. Springer (Dallas), Sam Mullis, Colby Almond and Greyson Almond; his sisters, Ann Brooks (Warren) of Oak Island and Wanda Brooks (Ben Liles) of Lilesville; and his sister-in-law Melody Poteat (Stella) of Peachland. He is also survived by dog he rescued from the animal.
