He is survived by: his wife Mary Cattie Oxendine; his children, Darlene (Clay), Herman Barton, Jr., Evonia (late Dwayne) and Doreen (Brian); his grandchildren, Jeremiah, Donald, Christopher, Christian, Arieana and Nicholas; and his caregivers, Cindy Sanderson, Catherine Locklear and Shari Brooks.
