She was predeceased by: her parents, Garner Locklear and Ocie Locklear; her former husband Rev. Gary P. Thompson; her daughter Amelia Thompson; and her siblings, James, Garner Jr., Willie, Rayfield, Harold, Nessie and Margaret.
She is survived by: her daughter Amiria Thompson-Chavis; her husband Dustin; her grandchildren, Micah P. Thompson-Prather of Red Springs, Ashleigh E. Prather of Prospect and Aslyn G. Thompson-Chavis; her siblings, Hurley Locklear (Margaret) and Shelby Tobias of Baltimore, Maryland.; her siblings' children, Antonia Maria Clark, Una Gail Locklear, Wilton Clark of Prospect, David Clark of Sanford and Art Thomas Locklear of Huntersville; her caregiver Abigail Locklear; her stepgrandsons, Adrian Chavis of Rowland and Joshua Chavis of Rowland; her grandson Ezra Prather of Red Springs; her adoptive daughter Joyce Jacobs of Red Springs; her son Jonathan Prather (Red Springs); and her friends, John Garth Britt, Carmen, Rae Don, Sheneen, Megan, Ashkea, Sherry, Allison and Miranda. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel (2305 Prospect Rd, Pembroke, NC 28372). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Island Grove Baptist Church (6045 NC-710, Pembroke, NC 28372).
