He was predeceased by: his parents, George Caviness and Georgia Jones Collins; his grandson Timothy Andrew Merritt; his brothers, Thomas Collins and Fred Collins; and his nephew Tom Collins.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Stewart Collins; his children, Julie Merritt Benson (Kelly), Timothy Ray Merritt (Pam), Jeffrey Wayne Collins and Brian Matthew Collins (Amalia); his grandchildren, Brett Bennett (Alex), Hannah Creed (Patrick), Orry Benson (Laken) and Luke Merritt (Autumn); his great grandchildren, Jameson, Grady Bennett, Cade, Emma Creed and Lorelynn Benson; his nephew Scott Collins; and his cousin Elizabeth Lofits.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Jessup's Grove Baptist Church (896 Jessup Grove Church Rd, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
