It is with sadness that the passing of Jimmy Wayne Matthews of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina is shared. Jimmy, born on February 1, 1949, passed away on September 11, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Matthews and Addis Cundiff Matthews; and his brother Ray Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Gaitha; his sons, David Matthews of Winston-Salem and Greg Matthews (Sujatha) of Dunwoody, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Emily, Will, Megan, Maya and Liam; and his siblings, Lolene Brown, Sandra Peters (Rich) and Mark (Tracie). He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St Andrew Lutheran Church (1401 Fancy Gap Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Saint Andrew Lutheran Church (1401 Fancy Gap Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A burial will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery (850 W Main St, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041).
