He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vernon Evans and Gladys Peedin Evans; his wife Joyce Brady Evans; and his brother Charles Vernon Evans. He is survived by: his children, Darrel Evans (Donna) of Pine Level and Dee Newsome (Mike) of Smithfield; his grandchildren, Haley Newsome and Kaycie Langdon (Chris); and his niece Debbie Talton (Mike) of Smithfield.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Parrish Funeral Home Chapel (1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576). A burial was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at the Selma Memorial Gardens (Selma, NC 27576).
