He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Mae Elliott and Joseph Glenn Smith; and his siblings, Ernestine "Teenie" Minish, Josephine Bell and Henry Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Elizabeth Palmer; his pet Rose; his daughters, Melissa Boles and Martha Mappin (Everett); his grandchildren, Erin Nance, Emily Nickle (Gabe), Palmer Boles (Nicole), Glenn Boles (Carrie) and Matthew Mappin (Emily); his great grandchildren, Jackson Key, Kinsie Key, Ella Jane Boles, Waylon Nickle, Arlo Nickle, Riley Mappin and Everett R. Mappin; and his friends, Dr. John Ellis and Dr. Kathleen Letizia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Boles Funeral Home Chapel (425 W Pennsylvania Ave, Southern Pines, NC 28387).
