He was predeceased by: his parents, Dempsey Smith and Annabelle Smith; and his stepson Paul Elmore. He is survived by: his wife Bette Howard Smith; his sons, Chris Smith (Peggy) and Tim Smith (Hope); his brother Robert Smith (Mary Ruth); his grandchildren, Sara Smith, Holly Smith, Greyson Smith and Lydia Elmore Sumner (Jordan); Glenn Elmore (Jessica).
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Pink Hill Funeral Home (1056 NC-11, Pink Hill, NC 28572).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swansboro United Methodist Church , 665 West Corbett Ave., Swansboro, NC. 28584 or a charity of your choice.
