He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lewis and Matilda Lewis; his brother Peyton Lewis; and his pets, Charlie, Martha, Rebecca, Hawkeye, Trapper, Dish, Tommy, Kroger, Chessie, Maia, Rita, Kin, Jimi, Phoebe and Donna.
He is survived by: his significant other Martha; his sister-in-law Barbara Lewis of Wilmington, DE; his cousin Bob Slade (Donna) of Wake Forest, NC; his stepbrother Pete Schroeder (Linda) of Flagler Beach, FL; his nieces and nephews, Julia Holt (Andrew) of Baltimore, MD, Heather Broihier (Kevin) of Shaker Heights, OH, Thor Schroeder of Wallingford, CT and Per Schroeder (Kim) of Avon Lake, OH.; and his pets, Maude, Eva, Goldeneye, Momcat, Lynley, Morse, Gemma, Fern and Nicola.
Charlie continued his lab work through the early parts of the COVID pandemic.
