He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Cameron Dean and Rozelle Smith Dean. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ann Bailey; his son Ronald E. Dean of Raleigh; his granddaughter Hannah Roze Dean Betancourt (Rene Betancourt) of Wilmington; and his great grandchildren, Maverick and Maddox Betancourt.
