She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Carpenter and Callie Mae Phillips Carpenter; her husband John Frank "Buck" Powell; her grandson Stoney; and her brothers, Bobby Joe Carpenter and Walter Fred Carpenter.
She is survived by: her children, John F. "Jeff" Powell III (Wendy) of Polkton, Phillip Todd Powell (Ann) of Ansonville and Stacey Lee Powell of Polkton; her daughter-in-law Vicky Powell; and her grandchildren, Michelle Thomas (Richie), Ashley Smith (Nick), J. R. Powell (Christina), Cali Powell, Holden Powell Kaitlynn Powell, Tucker Pearson, River Peason and Carley Powell.
