He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard M. Johnston, Sr. and Harreit Stephens Johnston; and his siblings, Julius Johnston, III, Paul Taylor Johnston and Harriet Stephens Johnston.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Nowlin Johnston; his children, Laura Heaton Thompson (Roy) of Blanch, N. C., William Russell Johnston (Whitney Brandon) of Providence, N. C., Stephanie J. Eggleston (Frank Lee) of Richmond and Julius Johnston, IV (Ashley) of New York, N. Y.; and his grandchildren, Ryan Cole Thompson, Jameson Anne Johnston, Julianne Johnston, Joel Johnston, Alexandria Johnston and Carly Johnston.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Community Baptist Church (3050 Old NC Hwy 86 N, Yanceyville, NC 27379).
