It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley June Johnston of Purlear, North Carolina, who passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Lee Mikeal and Ruth Eller Mikeal; her husband Billy Ray Johnston; her son Eric (Heather Brown); and her siblings, Betty Mikeal, Wilma Fairchild, Roy and Johnny Triplett.
She is survived by: her daughter Tonya Blackburn (Nashone) of North Wilkesboro; her grandchildren, Joshua Mikeal Shaw (Taylor), Amber Lee Tyler (Clay) and Corban Dale Vestal; her great grandchildren, Ayden and Maxx Tyler; and her siblings, Linda Morrison of South Carolina and Clay Triplett of Florida. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Yellow Hill Baptist Church (5733 Summit Rd, Purlear, NC 28665).
