He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillery Dallas Simmons and Mamie Mae Draughn Simmons; his wife Ruby Killen Simmons; and his siblings, Rosa Lee and Henry Simmons.
He is survived by: his stepson Rick Sturgill of Crumpler; and his brother Alfred Simmons of Mount Airy. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
