She was predeceased by: her parents, Margaret Forrest Shelton Vestal and William Edward Vestal of Charlotte; her husband Dr. Stephen Wainwright; her former husband Gene Brown; her stepson Archie Wainwright; and her cousin Tommy Edwards.

She is survived by: her son Jonathan Brown; her stepchildren, Peter Wainwright, Jenny Wainwright and Ian Wainwright; and her cousins, Stella Shelton (Donna Lee Gutterman), Bill Claude Shelton (Karen Stewart Shelton), Cindy Butchko Edwards, Christopher Shelton (Jennifer Bolden Shelton) and Kelley Lynn Shelton Goodson (Josh Goodson).
