She is survived by: her husband James Alton "Al" Whitehurst; her sons, Jason Corey Whitehurst and James Bradford Whitehurst; her daughter-in-law Candice Whitehurst; her grandchildren, Cameron, Jake, Brady, James and Lila; her sister Donna Stokes; her siblings-in-law, Parker Stokes and Kay Whitehurst Nagle (Bob Nagle); her nieces and nephews, Tony Rosso, Jennifer Venters, Gina Rogers, Joseph Rosso, Michael Rosso, Nicholas Rosso, Tamara Stokes, Kristen Crumpler, Ryan Stokes, Katie Nichols and Diane; and her caregiver Kim Zapolski.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Diane's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
