He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Albert Sidney Briggs, Jr. and Margaret Garrett Briggs; his former wife Susan Lynn Walters; his wife Sue; his children, Dr. Douglas G. Briggs (Michaele Orlowski Briggs) of Raleigh, James T. Briggs (Donna Kanna Briggs) of Raleigh, Paul C. Briggs (Jennifer Hoffman Briggs) of Charlotte and Molly Briggs Thompson (Michael Thompson) of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Marie, Garrett, Mason, Campbell, Reagan, Elly and Sarah; and his great grandchildren, Mercy and Levi.
