He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Edward Sandy and Alice Cozy Medlin; his wife Shirley Jean Higgins; and his siblings, Kay Frances Sandy and Irvin Edward Sandy Jr..
He is survived by: his daughters, Connie Jean Sandy and Jennifer Sandy McKee (Charles); and his sister Dianne Sandy Sorrell. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home- Garner (1200 Benson Rd, Garner, NC 27529). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:40 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Montlawn Memorial Park (2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603).
