He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Smith Lackey and Maude Hortense Webber Lackey; his former wife Peggy Sue Roueche Lackey; and his siblings, Hueston Lackey, Harlee Lackey, Austin Lackey, Donald Lackey, James Lackey, Buck Lackey, Waitsel Lackey, Heade, Eloise Hayes, Rozella West, Marie West, Vera Adams, Hazel McCurdy, Brenda Mitchell and Ruth Walker.
He is survived by: his daughter Stephanie Krueger (Kurt) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Benjamin Kurt Krueger and Emily Susanna Krueger; and his wife Jenny Ball Chapman of Taylorsville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel (7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612).
