She was predeceased by : her parents, Harvey Boykin and Emma Boykin of Wilson; her son Don Howard; her husband Kenneth Watkins; and her siblings, Bursie, Floyd, Vester, Beatrice, Lela, Eunice, Evel, Rachel, Lida, Thelma and Dorothy.

She is survived by : her stepchildren, Maria Watkins, Loren Watkins and Ricardo Velazco; her caregiver Carolyn Saunders; her stepgrandchildren, Rachel, Gabriel Saurez, Ian and Erica Macrone; and her stepgreat-grandchild Beckham Macrone.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the New Hope Baptist Church (4301 Louisburg Rd, Raleigh, NC 27604). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Maplewood Cemetery (165 E Main St, Mt Olive, NC 28365).
