He was predeceased by: his parents, James Allen Hill, Sr. and Mary Daphne Hill; and his son Robert Tomlinson Hill. He is survived by: his wife Harriet Eloise Tomlinson of Florence, AL; his sons, James Allen Hill III and Charles Martin Hill of Raleigh; his daughters-in-law, Rachel Hill and Caroline Cheek-Hill; his grandchildren, Jackson Cheek, James Hill, Preston Cheek, John Hill and Campbell Hill; and his sister Betty Clyde Bissette (Bootsie).
