With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jane Acton Preiss (Raleigh, North Carolina), born in Salem, Oregon, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 12, 2026 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Hobart Acton and Serena Philips Acton; her brother Winser Acton; and her husband Don Preiss. She is survived by: her sister Margaret Acton Smith of Napa Valley, CA; her son Kirk Alan Preiss; her daughter-in-law Donna Pardue Preiss; her daughter Gail Preiss Tomlinson; her son-in-law Richard P. Dover, Jr.; and her grandchildren, John Preiss (Jena), Amy Preiss Barger (Kyle), Rebecca Jane Tomlinson (Christopher Grocki), Carrol Finley Tomlinson, Jr. (Lerna) and Edward Philips Tomlinson (Amanda). She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
