It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joel Anthony Johnson Sr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James and Annie; and his siblings, James Johnson, Elizabeth "Lib" Parker, Bertha "Bert" Medlin, Mildred Kalsey, Lois Underhill, Betsy Anne Smith and William Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife LaVonda; his children, Roland, Melanie and Anthony (Tonya); his grandchildren, Jonathan (Kristina), Christopher (Ashley), Luke, Jimmy, Michael and Kerri; his great grandchildren, Kenzie, Willow, Jameson, Michael Jr., Lily, Arielle and Hunter; and his sister Jeannie. He is also survived by cousins and dear friends.
