He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clemons John Knoop and Agnes Elizabeth Mobley Knoop; and his siblings, Elizabeth Dalton (Ray), Jean Eaton (Grant) and William Knoop, Jr. (Bea).

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Cruthers Knoop; his daughter Ashley Knoop Ennis (Jordan); his granddaughters, Maxine and Louisa Ennis; his basset hound Betsy; and his friends, Kent, Keith, Mark, Jack Russells, Cricket and Mugsy.

A reception was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the North Ridge Country Club (6612 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615).
