With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Laura Gene Harmon of Raleigh, North Carolina, born in Martinsville, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 19, 2024 at the age of 76. She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Jerome Harmon. She is survived by: her children, Wendy Harshaw (Dan), Daniel Harmon (Vivian), Michael Harmon and Amy Harmon; her grandchildren, Collin, Jayden, Conner Harshaw, Mikayla, Emily, Izabella and Michael Harmon; her siblings, Dusty, Ricky and Sandy Harrell; and her friends, Russ Portz, Kay, Mike Willard and Megan Browning.

Laura's favorite color was red, so we ask funeral attendees to honor her by incorporating the color red*The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to Transitions Life Care, the home hospice company that lovingly guided her and her family. “Laura and I were part of a very close Ghent Brethren Church youth group (Roanoke, Va). We studied the Bible together and participated in all church activities. Laura was my first serious girlfriend. We exchanged class rings, a true sign of “young love”. I am so fortunate to have had Laura in my life. We matured together and I can’t imagine doing it without her. Although I haven’t spent time with her in many years, I am deeply saddened by Laura’s loss. Prayers to family and friends. God bless.”
