She is survived by: her daughter DeAnna Ashley Garland (Kevin Jr.); her grandsons, Kevin Garland III and Liam Garland; and her siblings, Joseph Means, John Harrison, Patricia Harrison, James Means, Joelyn Baker (Boyce), Wayne Means, Eric Means, Timothy Means (Tina), Dolitha Means, Roma Means Grimes (Calvin), Kay Means and Theresa Wilson (Chris). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026 at 6:30 PM at the Watts Chapel Baptist Church (3703 Tryon Rd, Raleigh, NC 27606). A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23rd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Saint Paul AME Church (402 W Edenton St, Raleigh, NC 27603).
