He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Marvin and Mary Elizabeth Parnell; his former wife Susan Johnson Parnell; and his siblings, David Marvin Parnell and Susan Parnell Jones.

He is survived by: his fiancée Faith Parker of Four Oaks; his children, Michael Wayne Parnell of Texas, Sarah Ann Woodall (Rock) and Mark Marvin Parnell of Four Oaks; his sisters, Connie Stanley (Danny) and Sandy Shryock of Arkansas, Special; his nieces, Pamela Capps (Travis) of Four Oaks and Sarah Messer of Texas; his parents-in-law, Gary and Holly Nord of Four Oaks; and his sisters-in-law, Courtney MacDonald (Zach) of Coats and Lydia Nord of Four Oaks. He is also survived by father to his children.
