He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Lee and Doris Kirmeyer Douglas; his siblings, Marcia Bishop and William "Bill"; his brother-in-law Ray Marshall; his in-laws, Clifton Kincaid Avery and Ruth Whisenant Avery; his siblings-in-law, Bruce Clark and Sally Thomas Haney; and his pets, Scout, Hunter and Cinnamon.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Avery Douglas; his children, Leslie Ruth Douglas (Reggie Romero) and Kate "Kato" Douglas Tharp (Chris); his grandchildren, Holden Christopher Tharp and Cameron Jane "CJ" Tharp; his sister Nancy Douglas Marshall; his niece Misty Lindsey (Sam); his nephew Chad Trout (Jovaughn); his siblings-in-law, Kate Avery Hall (Robert "Bobby"), Mary Jane Avery, Laura Avery Clark and Samuel James Avery (Caroline); and his pet Ginger.
