It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marvin Kenneth Beute in Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Beute and Jeanette DeVries Beute; his wife Sherlene Russell Beute; his son Douglas Russell Beute; and his siblings, Lois, Jean, Marilyn and Harvey.
He is survived by: his daughter Dana B. Townley (Jeffrey) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Derek, Kristen Beute, Daniel, Alexandria Beute, Jennifer, Randy Tyner, Harrison Townley, Katelyn, Craig Cardone, Jessica and Cole Ford; his great grandchildren, Oakley Tyner, Mattie Tyner, Romee Cardone, Kayce Beute, Hallie Beute and Wyatt Beute; and his brother Richard Beute.
Dr. Beute was a distinguished professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at North Carolina State University (NCSU), recognized for his significant contributions to the study and management of peanut diseases.
