He was predeceased by: his parents, John Morris and Marlene Morris; his son Jeffrey; his sister Barbara McLean; and his granddaughter Cameron Firebaugh.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Morris; his sisters, Pam Maynard of Willow Spring and Deborah Robinson of Smithfield; his children, Jamie Firebaugh (Aaron) of Clayton and Derrick Morris of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Carter, Caleb and Catie Firebaugh; and his parents-in-law, Don and Kathleen Reynolds of Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to ALS United of NC, or Carolina Pines Baptist Church.
