He is survived by: his wife Charlsie Koehler Counts; his children, Angie Counts Splawn (Stephen) of Elon, NC and Joe Counts (Kristina) of Nashville; his grandchildren, Patrick Counts, Elizabeth Counts and Renick Splawn; and his brother Edward Luther Counts (Donna) of Charleston, SC..

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Samaritan's Purse (samaritanspurse.org or 800-528-1980).
