He was predeceased by: his parents, James Reginald Capps and Martha Edwards Capps; his stepmother Caddie Ambrose Capps; and his sister-in-law Nancy Cartwright Capps. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Moore Capps; his children, Melissa Sharon Capps of Raleigh, James Robert Capps (Cindy Hawke Capps) of Oak Island and Benjamin Ralph Capps (Heather Maness Capps) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Samuel Robert (Lydia Beeson Capps), Luke Christopher Ashley, Hope Merritt Switzer and Brian Thomas Capps; his great grandchildren, Harbor Marie Capps and Walker James Rouse; and his brother John Reginald Capps of Henderson.
