He was predeceased by: his father Ivan Lee; and his son Thomas Michael Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Barno Hayes; his children, Deborah Hayes Long of Raleigh, Robert John Hayes (Judy) of Jacksonville, FL and David Hayes (Phyllis) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his grandsons, Douglas J. Hayes (Corinne), Daniel J. Hayes (Kari) and Jonathan S Hayes; his great grandchildren, Emalynn, Celeste, Valerie, Khloe, Rylee, Wyatt, Wilson and Natalie; and his brother Donald Ivan Hayes of Windsor, NY. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews.
