He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Stafford and Janie Stafford; his siblings, George Friedenstab, Willie Wilson, Arnold Stafford, Dewey Stafford and Lois Poff; and his sons, Phillip Stafford and Gary Stafford.

He is survived by: his son Robbie Stafford (Alyssa); and his grandchildren, Christopher Stafford (Jessica), Kristina Koontz, Barrett Stafford and Eleanor Stafford. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
