It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rufus Edvan Thompson of Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe Daniel Thompson and Mary Ellen Thompson Thompson; his wife Jewitt; and his siblings, Inez T. Stewart, Eleanor T. Stewart, Isaac and James Elmer.
He is survived by: his sons, Jerry (Dottie) and Mike; his grandchildren, Jacob (Amanda), Jody (Sarah) and Ashley Hale (Jon); and his great grandchildren, Rebecca, Jewitt Thompson, Edward, John Thompson and Mackenzie Hale.
