With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Steven Barbour of Raleigh, North Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Steven left this world on July 15, 2025 at the age of 67, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Durwood Barbour and Mary Anne Baker Barbour; his wife Phyllis Blackburn Barbour; his daughters, Dr. Ashley Barbour and Claire Barbour (Michael Mancinelli); his brother Reid Barbour (Sarah Boyd); and his nieces and nephews, Clio, William, Zach (Hannah), Michael, Gabby (Josh), Kate, Christina (Mark), Kristen (Dave), Wes (April) and TJ.
Although he never fully retired, he began taking fewer students after the pandemic, and he found joy in tending his yard in his Longview Gardens home, biking and walking his dogs Millie and Bella in East Raleigh neighborhoods and connecting with family and friends in late night phone calls.
