He is survived by: his family Sandra Saunders Coats; his daughters, Amy C. Butts (Dave) and Katherine C. Tole; and his grandchildren, Sarah Butts and Will Tole.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Millbrook United Methodist Church (1712 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609).
