He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Mitchell and John Anthony Mitchell; his wife Catherine Dolan Mitchell; and his siblings, Maureen Kelly (John) and Mark Mitchell.

He is survived by: his children, Eileen (Don Rabil), Julie (Mike Vorobiov), Cathy (Mike Egan) and Billy (Wendy Mitchell); his grandchildren, Cecelia Hawes (Graham), Maggie, Drew (Rachel), Ryan Rabil, Nick, Steve Vorobiov, Liam, Colin Egan, Noelle and Violet Mitchell; and his siblings, Tony Mitchell (Jackie), Tom Mitchell (JoAnne), Rick Mitchell (Connie) and Monica Cummins (Gary).

In lieu of flowers, Bill wanted any donations made to the Knights of Columbus council 11266, 1008 Vandora Springs Road., Garner NC 27529.
