With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Willie C. Cunningham of Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on December 6, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Willie may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Harris and Lucille Muldrow; and his siblings, Walter Cunningham (Pinease), Robert Cunningham (Patricia), Sammy Cunningham (Flora Lee) and Johnella Makins (William). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Steven L Lyons Funeral Home (1515 New Bern Ave, Raleigh, NC 27610). Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 1530 Creech Rd, Garner, NC 27529.
